General info

Cetina river has been flowing for thousands of years thus creating mystical shapes in its bed. Crystal clear water and river suitable for swimming offer a true experience of untouched nature with its cliffs up to 180 meters high, waterfalls, lakes, subterranean tunnels, and a 50 meters high waterfall Gubavica. The guide will give you a life-jacket, a helmet, neoprene pants, and jacket and the small expedition is ready to set off. The sound of the river becomes louder as you descend into the canyon. Ten minutes later you will find yourself in the middle of the Cetina river canyon.
Walking through rivers and rapids, going through subterranean tunnels, swimming in natural pools, going around waterfalls and lakes – all this is canyoning.

Tour summary

Distance from start to finish: 2.300 meters
Altitude distance from start (in the canyon) to finish: 73 meters
River temperature: Between 15°C and 19°C. It depends on the season.
Water diving: You can dive in the water only in places that are allowed by the guide. Usually, there are four dives, but they are not obligatory and can be bypassed.
Abseiling: Cetina Canyoning trip does not include rope lowering and using alpine equipment. Rope lowering is a part of the extreme canyoning trip.
Fitness Level: Minimum level of fitness is required.
Previous experience: Not necessary. Swimming skills are necessary.
Age: Minimum age is 8 years.
Number of people per day: Minimum of 2 and a maximum of 50.
Availability: Every day from 15th of April to 15th of October. This trip runs if there are 2 or more people. E-mail us regarding dates and tell us the number of people in your group. We also need to know if you need transfers. We will inform you about the dates available.

Canyoning tour/departure times: Between 10 AM and 11 AM (or as agreed for each group).
Duration of tour: 3.30 – 4.30 h
Duration of transfer: 45 min – one way (50 km from Split), 30 min – one way (25 km from Makarska)

Special Conditions: The operator has the right to cancel tours, without notice, at their discretion, depending on the weather or river conditions. All safety instructions from Adventure Dalmatia’s staff must be adhered to.
Equipment & Staff: All equipment used is registered and certified in the EU. All customers must wear Personal Flotation Devices (PFD) and helmets at all times while in the river. All of our professional guides are registered at Croatian mountain rescue service. Staff members speak Croatian and English.

Onsite facilities

Toilets are available at the beginning and at the end of the trip. There are no toilet facilities available during the canyoning trip.

How to find Zadvarje village?

By car from Split or Trogir direction: Exit Split and go north towards highway A1 – DUGOPOLJE entrance. Enter the highway and drive approx. 35 km in direction of MAKARSKA. Exit at ŠESTANOVAC and drive 2 km south to the ZADVARJE village. Meet us at INA petrol station in the village.

What is canyoning?

Canyoning is a combination of walking, swimming, floating, cascading down natural chutes and water slides and sometimes using special rope systems when including lowering or abseiling. Nearly 80% of the time is spent in the water. For the best explanation of canyoning watch our tour video for Basic and Extreme version.

Is canyoning safe?

Like any other adventure sport, canyoning involves risk. To control it, we have professional experienced guides and high quality safety equipment. All safety procedures in the canyon are the result of thousands of tours we have already done. All clients are obliged to strictly follow instructions of our guides.

How long have you been in canyoning business?

We are the first company to start with canyoning tours in Croatia back in 2000. We shaped canyoning and extreme canyoning on Cetina river as it is today by defining standards and procedures for this activity.

Do I need experience? What is minimum age?

Experience in canyoning is not necessary. Guides will teach you all of the necessary techniques for a safe tour. Minimum age for basic canyoning is 8 years and for extreme version 15 years. Both versions require swimming skills. Adventure Dalmatia holds the right to refuse any minor if considers s/he will not be able to do the activity.

Are jumps obligatory?

Jumps are not obligatory and can be bypassed.

Which equipment is provided?

Basic equipment consists of a long neoprene pants specially designed for canyoning with knee pads and shin guards, long neoprene jacket, personal floating device (PFD or life jacket) and a helmet + body harness in extreme version. Depending on the season 3, 5 and 6.5mm wetsuit is used. Canyoning shoes are for rent, 5.30€ each pair. Other, regular trainers, are free of charge. Both shoes are limited in number. Guests are welcome to reserve them together with a tour or bring their own.

What do I need to bring with me? Can I take my sun/glasses?

Swimming suit, towel, clothes to change after the tour, trainers (or rent ours). We recommend that you bring disposable contact lenses if you normally wear glasses. Bring any personal medications such as asthma spray, epi-pen or antiallergic preparation. Please notify our guide about your medical condition. Please do not bring your valuables or leave them in your car. While anything left with us will be quite safe, Adventure Dalmatia can not take responsibility for your valuable items.
Sun glasses are not necessary in the canyon but if you want to take them, make sure they are tied.
Sight glasses or contact lenses can be brought. Make sure you tie glasses. All jumps in the canyon can be bypassed.
