On Marjan hill you will climb some of the most interesting routes grading from 4b to 8a. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or expert – with instructors’ guidance and advices, you too can enjoy the best views of islands and beaches. Explore old hermitages, sun gaze above the sea or just fill your lungs with fresh air! This is by far one of the best climbing locations you will see. When you are done conquering this beauty, you can continue exploring the hill, relax at nearby beaches or return to city center and blend in ‘easy going’ lifestyle of its inhabitants

Tour summary

Climbing route heights: Up to 30 meters.
Route grades: From 4b to 8a.
Swimming: Possible at several beaches near the climbing area.
Equipment & Staff: All equipment used is registered and certified at the EU and the UIAA standards. All customers must wear a helmet at all times while climbing. All of our professional guides are registered at Croatian mountain rescue service. Staff members speak Croatian and English.
Fitness Level: A minimum level of fitness is required.
Previous experience: Not necessary.
Age: Minimum age is 8 years.
Numbers on the day: Minimum of 2 and a maximum of 50.
Availability: Every day during the whole year. This trip runs if there are 2 or more people. E-mail us regarding dates and tell us the number of people in your group. We will inform you about the dates available.

Climbing tour departure times: Depends on the season (temperature), can be arranged in the morning or afternoon.

Special Conditions: The operator has the right to cancel tours, without notice at their discretion depending on the weather or river conditions. All safety instructions from Adventure Dalmatia’s staff must be adhered to.
Food and drinks: You can find many shops and restaurants with domestic food and coffee in vicinity. There are no shops on the climbing area.

Is rock climbing safe?

Rock climbing is inherently dangerous. Please follow all safety guidelines. Climbing risks can never be completely eliminated. The challenge of using one’s experience and skills to manage these risks is one of the allures of climbing.

I’ve never done rock climbing before. Can I participate in this activity?

All climbing areas where our tours are executed have numerous climbing routes with different difficulty levels. If you don’t have climbing experience, our guides will take you on easy routes first and from there you will progress to more difficult ones.

What is top roping?

The rope is anchored at the top of the route with two working ends, one with the belayer and one with the climber.

Is there a minimum age for rock climbing?

There is a minimum of 10 years old.

Do I have to climb all the way to the top?

No. You climb as long as you can.

How to descend from a climb?

It is often possible to walk down the side of cliffs or mountains and return to the base. Where walking down is difficult or impossible, instructors will belay you.

What are bolts?

Bolts are expansion bolts like those used in construction, tapped into holes drilled in the rock to protect climbs where there are no cracks for other type of protection. A special hanger is attached to the bolt, so the rope can be clipped to it with a caribiner. Bolts are permanent or fixed pieces of protection. They are placed only by the first person to do a climb and are used by all subsequent parties.
