Jelsa – Vrboska – Zečevo – Jelsa (16km of paddling)

Jelsa is the only settlement on the island with it’s own source of pottable water. The place developed as a port of a nearby Pitve but then became autonomus and well known for it’s shipyard. In 19th century it was the first place on any of the islands to have its own library. Its inhabitants today live mostly from tourism. From Jelsa we paddle towards Vrboska – the most attractive place on the island with its charming small bridges that trespass this inlet. For those who are looking for a smell of untouched nature, clean sea and solitude, there is a naturist islet Zečevo just in front of Vrboska. We visit Zečevo and then paddle back to Jelsa.

Day 03

Jelsa – Stari Grad
Jelsa – Stari Grad (approx 30km of paddling)

Stari Grad (Old Town in English) is the oldest settlement on the island located at the edge of a 6 km long inlet. The village was established during a Greek colonization of the island in 385/384 BC and it is well known for Chora Pharou or parcelized field grom Greek times. Today it’s a main traffic connection between island of Hvar and the mainland. The place will charm you with it’s history and lifestyle.

Day 04

Stari Grad – Hvar
Stari Grad – Hvar (Approx 28km of paddling)

The city of Hvar developed in the 13th century. From that period and towards today you will see a variety of styles in building – romanesque and gothic, renaissance and baroque. Hvar has one of the best preserved arsenals (weapon storage) on the Mediterranean built in 16th century. Later, a part of this palce became a theatre – one of 10 most preserved baroque theatres in Europe. The city of Hvar is well know as a popular destination for Hollywood stars who visit it with their yachts. We believe getting to know this place with a kayak gives you a more intimate look in it’s beauty.

Day 05

Hvar – Pakleni islands archipelago
Hvar – Pakleni islands archipelago (5 – 16km of gentle paddling)

A group of 11 islands and reefs in front of the port of Hvar spreads along 11 kilometers and creates a natural shelter. The name comes from “pitch.” i.e. Pine resin, which was used for boat coating. The largest island is St. Clement, which contains Illyric ruins and remains of Roman houses. Most famous places are Jerolim, Stipanska, Ždrilca, Palmižana and Vlaka.
