About the tour

General info

A combination of mountains, sea, and river is a characteristic of Omiš town and the climbing area in its proximity. The climbing area is located at the banks of the river Cetina and is very popular in the summer. With expert advice from our instructors, you will learn how to safely climb and descend the cliffs of Omiš. After climbing, all you have to do is decide whether you want to swim in the sea or river Cetina located fifty meters away from the climbing area.

Tour summary

Route heights: From 10 to 30 meters
Route grades: From 4c to 7a
Swimming: Possible at the beach 400 meters from the climbing area.
Equipment & Staff: All equipment used is registered and certified at the EU and the UIAA standards. All customers must wear a helmet at all times while climbing. All our professional guides are registered at the Croatian mountain rescue service. Staff members speak Croatian and English.
Fitness Level: A minimum level of fitness is required.
Previous experience: Not necessary.
Age: Minimum age is 8 years.
Number of people per day: Minimum of 2 and a Maximum of 50.
Availability: Every day during the whole year. This trip runs if there are 2 or more people. E-mail us regarding dates and tell us number of people in your group. We will inform you about dates available.
Starts from: Omiš Town
Climbing tour departure times: Between 10 AM and 11 AM (or as agreed for each group).
Duration of the activity: 4h

Special Conditions: The operator has the right to cancel tours, without notice at their discretion depending on the weather or river conditions. All safety instructions from Adventure Dalmatia’s staff must be adhered to.
Duration of transfer: 30 min – one-way (25 km from Split), 35 min – one-way (37 km from Makarska)

Is rock climbing safe?

Rock climbing is inherently dangerous. Please follow all safety guidelines. Climbing risks can never be completely eliminated. The challenge of using one’s experience and skills to manage these risks is one of the allures of climbing.

I’ve never done rock climbing before. Can I participate in this activity?

All climbing areas where our tours are executed have numerous climbing routes with different difficulty levels. If you don’t have climbing experience, our guides will take you on easy routes first and from there you will progress to more difficult ones.

What is top roping?

The rope is anchored at the top of the route with two working ends, one with the belayer and one with the climber.

Is there a minimum age for rock climbing?

There is a minimum of 10 years old.

Do I have to climb all the way to the top?

No. You climb as long as you can.

How to descend from a climb?

It is often possible to walk down the side of cliffs or mountains and return to the base. Where walking down is difficult or impossible, instructors will belay you.

What are bolts?

Bolts are expansion bolts like those used in construction, tapped into holes drilled in the rock to protect climbs where there are no cracks for other type of protection. A special hanger is attached to the bolt, so the rope can be clipped to it with a caribiner. Bolts are permanent or fixed pieces of protection. They are placed only by the first person to do a climb and are used by all subsequent parties.
